YOUR GUIDE TO RACING MICHIGAN SNOCROSS
Ready to give snocross racing a try? We'll walk you through everything you need to know to get you - or your young racer - to the starting line.
No previous racing experience is required to get started. Follow the steps below and you'll be ready for race weekend!

STEP
FIND YOUR CLASS & CHOOSE YOUR NUMBER
Before registering, determine the right Michigan Snocross class (or classes) for you or your rider.
Classes are determined by factors including age, sled, and experience level, so review the class requirements before registering. Your sled must meet all the requirements for the class you select.

CHOOSE YOUR RACING NUMBER
Michigan Snocross does not assign racing numbers. Racers select the number they want to compete with and enter it during registration. Numbers should be 2 - 3 digits. More in-depth information about numbers and number plates can be found on Page 7 of the MSX Rulebook.

READ THE RULEBOOK
You don't need to memorize the entire rulebook before your first race - but you DO need to read it.
The Michigan Snocross Rulebook covers class requirements, sled requirements, required safety equipment, race procedures, and other important rules you'll need to know before getting on the track.
BEFORE MOVING ON, MAKE SURE YOU KNOW:

GET YOUR MEMBERSHIPS
A Michigan Snocross Membership is your admission to each event.
RACER MEMBERSHIP
Every racer needs either a Season Membership or a Weekend Membership.
SEASON MEMBERSHIP
Best for racers planning to compete throughout the season.
WEEKEND MEMBERSHIP
Best for racers who only want to compete during specific race weekends.
CREW MEMBERSHIP
The crew member(s) bringing the racer to the starting line must purchase a crew membership (Season or Weekend options available)

REGISTER TO RACE
Now you're ready to officially enter your first race!

Select the race weekend/rounds you're attending

Select your class(es) for each race day

Enter the racer's information and emergency contact information

Complete the emailed waiver
RACING WITH A MINOR?
If you're registering a minor, both parents must complete the required minor waiver.
ALREADY HAVE A SEASON MEMBERSHIP?
You do not need to purchase a Weekend Membership when registering.
ONLINE REGISTRATION IS STRONGLY ENCOURAGED
In-person registration is available the DAY PRIOR to each race weekend, all in-person registrations will include a $50 in-person registration fee.

STEP
GET YOUR TRANSPONDER
With the exception Kitty Kat, every Michigan Snocross class requires a transponder for scoring.
OWN YOUR TRANSPONDER
Purchase your own transponder and use it throughout the season.
RENT A TRANSPONDER
Rental transponders are available at the track.
Your transponder must be charged and functioning on race day.

GET READY FOR RACE WEEKEND
BEFORE YOU LEAVE HOME

Double-check that your registration is complete

Make sure all required waivers have been completed

Charge your transponder and make sure your MyLaps account is up to date

Pack all required riding and safety gear

Review the race weekend schedule

Review any race-weekend announcements
Northern Power Race Park posts the specific weekend schedule before each event, race order and times vary based on entries.

STEP
WHEN YOU ARRIVE AT THE TRACK
1. GET YOUR WRISTBANDS
Your first stop is the gate. If you purchased your racer and/or crew membership online, pick up your membership wristband at the gate. This is also where you will purchase any additional spectator wristbands needed for the weekend.
2. PARK IN THE PITS
After entering the facility, head to the racer pit area and find a place to park.
The pits are divided into General Pit Parking and Premier Parking. Premier Parking spaces are reserved and off-limits unless you have purchased a Premier spot for the season/weekend.
3. CHECK IN
Every racer must check in for the race weekend before the riders meeting. Make sure all required racer information and waivers have been completed.
4. ATTEND THE RIDERS MEETING
Riders meetings are held before racing begins next to the registration cabin and contain important information about the track, race procedures, and the day's racing. All racers must attend every meeting.
5. WATCH THE STAGING BOARDS
Three staging boards around the facility display important race information, including race order and gate picks. These are updated throughout the day; keep an eye on them throughout the day.
6. GET READY TO RACE!
Pay attention to the race order and PA announcements, and give yourself plenty of time to gear up, prepare your sled, and get to staging when your class is called.
